LONDON
I have been tens of times to London. You could go there for any kind of reason. It entertains everyone. You can do and see a lot. Easily, stay for a week and you can fill your days and nights.
If you want me to tell you what could be the perfect one week itinerary then I can tell you walk down the streets and explore as you go. But, I won’t definitely say that because I really want you to enjoy it and feel it the way I do. I’m sure that you will fall in love with it and it will become your yearly city stop.
what to do?
day 1
My favorite way to go to my hotel from the airport is definitely the metro Picaddily line. Every time I decide to take uber, I end up getting stuck in traffic for much more time. Never cab again!!! Since it’s a bit longer flight than any other in Europe, usually I keep it simple and I sleep early on first day. Due to time difference, you can benefit from your day at the same time. I love the Tate because there’s always something different and I fancy after the walk and being close to the Thames.
day 2
First things first, I have literally been to Westminster several times because it gives me the Royal feeling. You can find there the Parliament Square, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. Keep walking until you reach in time for the action of the Picadilly circus. It is the hub of entertainment. During the night it is super busy so I prefer to visit during daylight. For dinner, choose any restaurant in Mayfair and you will not be disappointed. Mayfair is the neighborhood that I sincerely prefer. If you’re staying in London more days then consider couple of hours just roaming around and am sure you’ll enjoy it.
day 5
If you’re leaving today then keep this day to do your last minute things. Personally I always take early flight in order to arrive end of day to Beirut. But if you have couple of hours then go see Liverpool area and live the hustle and bustle of corporate life.
day 4
If you fancy some tranquility while feeding the ducks and seeing the royal horses going for a ride then have your breakfast at the Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park. I do this every time I visit London. It became a ritual. It’s a beautiful change. Then leave in time for some shopping spree on Oxford and Regent streets. End your day in Covent Garden and see some street performers.
where to STAY?
Hotel Indigo Kensington
day 3
Knightsbridge area is one of the fanciest ones and very well known for Harrod’s which is now considered a travel icon by itself. Don’t miss it and get amused with its architecture and amazing food options. I usually eat in its food court because the quality there is very good and definitely the ambiance. After, take a walk on South Kensington street known for its shopping outlets. By the way, lately I prefer shopping here over Regent or Oxford. Right after, there would be Sloane Square, a chic area with beautiful buildings. For the love of art, visit the Saatchi Gallery. If you don’t love art as me then walk forward and shop in King’s Street.
TIP
Final word, don’t miss watching a musical. I have seen them all. Grease, Mamma Mia, The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera…
